Researchers studied more than 5,000 people for five years and learned that those with lower-than-average levels of vitamin D had a 57 percent greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes compared with participants with the highest levels. The researchers don’t yet know exactly why there’s a link between diabetes and vitamin D levels or whether vitamin supplements would help. Other sources of vitamin D include sunlight, egg yolks, fatty fish like salmon and milk fortified with vitamin D Source: Diabetes Care
